Linda Ikeji Media returns to cinemas with "The Night of June 7th" in theaters nationwide August 28

The Night of June 7th, will begin showing in cinemas nationwide on August 28.
Written and produced by Linda Ikeji and directed by Toka Mcbaror, the film marks the studio’s bold return to Nigerian theatres with the story a nation has waited twenty-one years to see on the big screen.
THE NIGHT OF JUNE 7TH is inspired by the 2005 extrajudicial killing of six young Nigerians in Apo, Abuja, an incident that sent shockwaves across the country, ignited national outrage and years of protest, and culminated in a landmark court judgment that saw two police officers sentenced to death.
Two decades later, the case remains one of the most consequential chapters in Nigeria’s struggle for police accountability and justice.
The film features a powerhouse cast led by Gideon Okeke, Femi Branch, Ali Nuhu and Charles Lenny.
“This is the film Nigeria has waited twenty-one years for,” said Linda Ikeji, writer and producer. “Six young people went out one night and never came home, and this country has never stopped asking why. The Night of June 7th is not just a film. It is a reckoning, and it belongs to every Nigerian who refused to forget.”
“We approached this story with the weight it deserves,” said director Toka Mcbaror. “Our responsibility was to the truth of that night and to the memory of the six. Audiences should come prepared to feel everything.”
THE NIGHT OF JUNE 7TH opens exclusively in cinemas nationwide on August 28, 2026, and is distributed by Nile Distribution. Tickets go on sale at all major cinema chains ahead of release.
