Four people have reportedly died, with several others sustaining serious injuries, following a powerful dynamite explosion at an illegal mining site (galamsey) in Aboso near Tarkwa in Ghana’s Western Region.
According to reports, the incident occurred when some miners were attempting to kill a snake at the site. During the process, a gunshot allegedly hit a hidden dynamite stored nearby, triggering a massive explosion.
Three victims are said to have died instantly, while another person who sustained severe injuries was rushed to the hospital but later reportedly succumbed to the injuries.
The explosion has left residents shocked, with people in charge expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the storage of explosives at the mining site.
