Inmate escapes maximum security Custodial Centre in Maiduguri

The Borno State command of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), has announced that an inmate has escaped from the Maximum Security Custodial Centre in Maiduguri. 
The command said the name of the escapee appears as “JOHN ISRAEL” on the prison uniform. 
In a statement issued yesterday, August 18, in Maiduguri, the NCoS’s Public Relations Officer, AB Thliza, disclosed that members of the public are urged to remain vigilant and to provide any useful information regarding the whereabouts of the fugitive, or any person reasonably suspected to be the escapee from the Maiduguri custodial centre. 
Thliza added that all credible information should be reported immediately to the nearest police station, Nigerian Correctional Service facility, or any other relevant security agency in the country. 
“For further urgent information, please call on 0806 044 836, 0806 211 0090 and 0806 277 6875,” he said 
Thliza warned that the public is strongly advised not to attempt to arrest or apprehend the individual. 
He asked that all reports be channeled through the appropriate security authorities. 
“Your cooperation is crucial to ensuring public safety,” he said.
