The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund, NSITF, says it has achieved about 85 per cent of its 2026 contribution target at the mid-year mark.
The Managing Director/Chief Executive of NSITF, Oluwaseun Faleye, said this at the opening of the Fund’s 2026 Half-Year Management Performance Review on Wednesday in Abuja.
Mr Faleye attributed the achievement to the commitment of regional and branch leadership, compliance teams and staff in spite of significant institutional changes during the period.
He said the first half of 2026 was marked by the Fund’s Voluntary Exit Exercise, which created new responsibilities and leadership demands.
“Across the country, many of our offices adapted to these changes with remarkable resilience and professionalism,” Mr Faleye said.
He said the Fund’s priorities for the second half included deepening compliance, expanding social security coverage and improving the speed and quality of claims administration.
Mr Faleye also stressed the importance of digital transformation, better data quality and simplified processes, cautioning that technology alone could not transform the institution.
“Yet technology alone cannot transform an institution; people do. Every reform ultimately depends on leadership, integrity, discipline and our collective willingness to embrace change,” he said.
The NSITF boss reminded staff that the Fund’s mandate centred on protecting injured workers, bereaved families, employers and Nigerian workers under the Employees’ Compensation Scheme.
“When we remember the people behind the statistics, compliance becomes more than enforcement, claims administration becomes more than a process,” Mr Faleye said.
He urged regional managers, branch managers and heads of departments to leave the two-day review with renewed purpose and determination.
“The story of 2026 is still being written. I am confident that, together, we will ensure that its final chapters are our strongest,” Mr Faleye said.
Also speaking, the Executive Director, Operations, Mojisola Alli-Macaulay, challenged regional and branch leadership to shift focus from activities to measurable outcomes.
Alli-Macaulay said success should be measured by the number of compliant employers, the speed of claims processing and the number of workers brought under social security protection.
She said the review, themed “From Performance to Impact: Strengthening Compliance, Enhancing Service Delivery, and Expanding Social Security Coverage,” was designed to move the Fund beyond targets.
“It is easy to become consumed by deadlines, reports, targets and immediate operational demands,” she said.
The executive director identified purposeful employer engagement, improved compliance, efficient claims handling and stronger use of technology as key priorities for operational leaders.
“The value of this review will not be determined only by the quality of the presentations made here. What will matter most are the decisions we take,” Alli-Macaulay said.
The Fund recognised 17 outstanding branches for contribution collection performance, while Victoria Island, Lagos Central and Lekki jointly accounted for about 40 per cent of total collections.
The Regional Management Performance Review provides a platform for NSITF to assess performance, review previous resolutions and agree measures to strengthen compliance and expand social security coverage nationwide.
