Poco Leeâs r@pe case, I can tell you 100% he didnât do anything. Such allegation has happened to me – Singer, Mr Real
Nigerian singer Mr Real has strongly defended his colleague, popular dancer Poco Lee, following unconfirmed online reports claiming the entertainer was arrested in the United Kingdom over a rape allegation.
The rumours, which began circulating across social media platforms, allege that Poco Lee was detained by British authorities. However, neither the UK police nor the dancer’s official management team have confirmed any arrest or formal charges.
Reacting to the development via his Instagram page, Mr Real stated that he “100% believes” Poco Lee is innocent. To support his stance, the singer shared a personal experience from a previous trip to the UK, recounting how he was nearly targeted by a similar false allegation.
According to Mr Real, during a past UK tour, a show organiser brought a group of women to his accommodation after showing him their photos. He explained that after drinking and chatting together, he retired to his room with one of the ladies, where he merely touched her cheek while complimenting her beauty. Mr Real used the anecdote to highlight how easily harmless interactions can be weaponised or twisted into severe allegations against visiting Nigerian public figures.
‘’Immediately her countenance changed. She asked why was I touching her, what was I trying to do?
‘why are you touching me? why are you molesting me?’ she just kept on asking me. I became confused’
The singer said the young lady took hold of a small fan in his room and smashed it in anger. He said the show organiser heard the sound, came in and took the lady outside.
‘’The show organiser came back and told me that the young lady says she wants to go report to the police that I tried to r@pe her. I was shocked!” he said
Mr Real said the show promoter came back to tell him they needed to settle the matter so she doesn’t escalate the issue by going to the police.
The singer said the show promoter came back to him, claiming the girl has demanded for £10K. He said he had to part with the £5K the show promoter paid him for his performance.
He further alleged that some of the show promoters also work with these ladies to lay false allegations on singers so they can intimidate them and ‘extort’ them.
‘’This should be a lesson to every upcoming artist and celebrity: when you travel out of the country, be careful about the people you surround yourself with, especially when it comes to casual relationships.
Protect yourself. Know who you invite into your space, avoid compromising situations, keep your boundaries, and don’t let enjoyment put your career, freedom, or reputation at risk” he wrote
