Suspected motorcycle snatcher rescued from angry mob in Plateau


Troops of Sector 5, Sub-Sector 51, have foiled an attempt by a mob to lynch a suspected motorcycle snatcher at Daffo Market in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident occurred at about 5:20 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 following a report of motorcycle theft at the market.
The troops immediately responded to the distress call and, on arrival, found the suspect in the hands of an angry mob who were about to lynch him.
The troops brought the situation under control and rescued the suspect, who had sustained injuries during the incident.
He was subsequently evacuated to a hospital for medical attention.
Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to identify the owner of the recovered motorcycle to facilitate further necessary action.
The intervention underscores the security forces’ continued efforts to prevent jungle justice and ensure that suspects are subjected to due process
