A young lady with a big nyash has been subjected to public embarrassment after she was allegedly caught attempting to steal another woman’s bag at the busy Effurun Market.
According to reports, the woman, identified by some sources as an Ozighe woman, was allegedly carrying out the act when her plan failed and she was exposed by people around.
A video circulating online captures the moment the woman was confronted by market-goers after the alleged failed operation.
Unlike some cases where suspects are physically assaulted, no one appeared to lay hands on her. Instead, traders and residents followed her while expressing their anger and disappointment.
The crowd could be heard shouting “thief, thief” as the woman walked away from the scene in shame. She covered her face with her hands, appearing embarrassed by the attention she had attracted.
The incident has generated reactions online, with many social media users commending the crowd for avoiding violence and calling for suspected offenders to be handed over to the appropriate authorities.
Others used the incident to highlight the need for increased security and vigilance in crowded markets, where petty theft cases are often reported.
