2027 Election: We’ll Deliver 2.5 Million Votes for Tinubu — Edo APC Boasts

The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared that its sweeping victory in the recent local government elections clearly indicates the party’s readiness for the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the party’s secretariat, the Edo APC Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe, said the party secured 2,158,600 votes in the council poll, describing the outcome as a strong endorsement of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration and President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

According to him, the APC is confident of delivering at least 2.5 million votes for President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Tenebe commended the conduct of the local government election, noting that the newly elected chairmen and councillors would assume office in September after the expiration of the tenure of the current council officials, in accordance with the law governing local government transitions.

He dismissed criticisms from opposition parties over the credibility of the election, insisting that Governor Okpebholo’s administration ensured a more inclusive democratic process by allowing 11 opposition parties to participate in the exercise.

“The APC secured 2,158,600 votes, an overwhelming mandate that reflects the confidence the people of Edo State have in our party, the leadership of Governor Monday Okpebholo and President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” Tenebe said.

He attributed the victory to effective grassroots mobilisation, purposeful leadership and the support of Edo residents.

The APC chairman also recalled that during the administration of former Governor Godwin Obaseki, the party participated in local government elections despite alleged intimidation and harassment.

He claimed that although the APC won in several councils, it was denied victory, while the then-government allegedly hurriedly inaugurated its preferred candidates in violation of democratic principles.

Tenebe further criticised political parties that boycotted the election, arguing that they lacked the moral standing to question the credibility of the poll.

He maintained that the people of Edo had consistently demonstrated their support for the APC, citing the party’s victory over the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2024 governorship election despite being in opposition at the time.

Calling for unity after the election, Tenebe urged all political actors to set aside partisan differences and work together for the state’s development.

“Elections come and go, but the development of Edo State is a collective responsibility. The time for political contests is over; the time for unity, reconciliation and shared progress has begun,” he said.

He invited all Edo residents to support Governor Okpebholo’s administration in its efforts to build a safer, stronger and more prosperous state.
