Salihu Lukman, the former Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has stated a strong desire to see the APC-led Federal Government and President Bola Tinubu destroyed in the 2027 general elections.

During an appearance on a television programme on Friday, Lukman expressed frustration with the opposition’s current attitude, urging them to up their game if they truly intend to take power from the ruling party.

He also expressed disappointment with the current state of the opposition and the absence of a party capable of holding elected leaders accountable.

According to him, there is concern that the opposition may repeat the mistakes of the 2023 polls despite the ongoing judicial process, stressing the urgency of addressing the personal ambitions of opposition leaders so that the country’s collective interest can take priority.

He said that as an individual, he has no reservations about wanting the APC and President Tinubu defeated in 2027, but expressed frustration with the current approach being taken.

He said that as a Nigerian, he was not enthused by recent developments, recalling that when the coalition and unity efforts among opposition leaders began about two years ago, the objectives were essentially twofold: to unite opposition leaders and to build a party capable of holding elected officials accountable.

He said that regardless of the outcome of the judicial process, he believes the situation is heading back toward a repeat of 2023, with the same mistakes being made while everyone hopes for a different, miraculous outcome.
