A family has recounted a terrifying encounter after spotting a huge python inside their home, mustering the courage to kill the snake themselves before warning others online to stay vigilant.
Video and images from the aftermath show the large, dark-scaled snake lying motionless on the tiled floor, its body coiled and bloodied following the confrontation.
The family has since urged fellow residents to regularly fumigate their homes as a precaution, pointing to fumigation as a way to deter snakes and other pests from entering living spaces, particularly in areas near bushland or vegetation where such encounters are more common.
Home invasions by large snakes, including pythons, remain a recurring, if unsettling, occurrence in parts of Ghana and other West African countries, especially in communities bordering forested or overgrown areas.
While pythons are non-venomous, their size and strength can still pose a serious physical threat, particularly to children or pets, making encounters like this one a source of genuine alarm for affected households.
The family’s identity and the specific location of the incident have not been disclosed.
