Gov. Lawal celebrates APC chairman Yilwatda at 58, hails leadership qualities

Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has congratulated the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, on his 58th birthday.
Mr Yilwatda, a former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, clocked 58 on Saturday, August 8, 2026.
In a congratulatory message issued by his spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, on Saturday, Governor Lawal described the APC national chairman as a valuable asset to the party and Nigeria’s political development.
The governor praised Yilwatda for his academic background, leadership qualities and commitment to strengthening the APC, saying his contributions had helped promote cooperation and unity among members of the party.
“On his birthday, I felicitate with our Chairman, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, a refined academic and committed party leader who prioritises the development of the All Progressives Congress,” Mr Lawal said.
He said Yilwatda’s leadership and vision had played an important role in advancing initiatives within the party and encouraging greater cooperation among its members.
“The exemplary leadership and vision displayed by Professor Nentawe have played a vital role in promoting major initiatives and in encouraging cooperation among the members of our great party,” the governor said.
Mr Lawal also commended the APC chairman’s handling of the party’s recent primary elections, describing it as evidence of his knowledge, discipline, sincerity and commitment to fairness.
According to the governor, Yilwatda’s conduct during the electoral processes demonstrated his determination to uphold the principles of the party and do what was right.
“Your handling of the recent All Progressives Congress primary elections shows your knowledge, discipline, sincerity, and commitment to doing what is right,” Mr Lawal said.
The Zamfara governor said Yilwatda’s experience in academia, public service and partisan politics would continue to be valuable to both the APC and the country.
He expressed confidence that the national chairman would continue to contribute to the growth and development of the party while providing leadership that would strengthen cooperation among its members.
“As you turn 58 today, I wish you many more years of complete mental, physical, and social well-being so Nigeria continues to benefit from your vast knowledge and experience,” Mr Lawal said.
The governor prayed for continued good health, wisdom and success for the APC chairman, while wishing him many more years of service to the party and the nation.
Mr Yilwatda, a professor and former minister, assumed the leadership of the APC at a time the party was intensifying efforts to strengthen its internal structures and consolidate its political position ahead of future elections.
